If the Alabama legislaturegets its way, abortion will soon becomeillegal there. A doctor convictedofperforming an abortion could be sentenced toup to 99 years in prison. With no exemptions in cases of rape or incest, this would be the mostrestrictive such law in the country.

在关于堕胎的争论中，双方很早以前就已经有过激烈的争论。反对堕胎，信仰教义一方的观点认为一个受精卵和一个人没什么区别，因此应当享有相同的法律权利。认同这种观点，那女性在受侵害后有什么权力吃避孕药或堕胎？支持女性流产自主的极端主义认为任何对堕胎的限制都是不能接受的对女性身体的控制。随着争论陷入僵局，解决的重点在于法院。
